Memorandum of Understanding

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between A P Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Board, Hyderabad and Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati has been signed by Prof. S. Jayarama Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, S.V. University and Dr. K. P. Srivasuki, IFS, CEO, AP Medicinal Aromatic Plant Board on 4th October 2007, to work out a strategic alliance for undertaking a series of co-operative activities of common interest and mutual benefit in the field of Medicinal plant research.

Dr. K. P. Srivasuki, IFS, CEO, AP Medicinal Aromatic Plant Board, speaking on the occasion has informed that the MoU will open up a window of opportunities for Department Botany; S.V. University and strengthens its involvement in research on economically important medicinal and aromatic plants of Andhra Pradesh while it extends the outreach for AP Medicinal Plants Board in the state.

Dr. Srivasuki, also informed that the herbal based products are gaining popularity all over the world and the time has come that farmers should also take advantage of such scenario by producing quality herbs and plants – the input material for any herbal/plant-based pharma industry.

Department of Botany continues to be, an active player in conducting field-level action research to support cultivation of Medicinal plants so as to promote capacity building in A.P for growth and development of Medicinal plants in the state. Department of Botany will be utilizing huge local Medicinal plant resources and help APMAB in Medicinal plants promotion and extension programmes. The MOU provides a firm foundation for greater collaboration between Department of Botany and A P Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Board, Hyderabad
